As each season passes, many question the current value and ROI of having your brand present at the Action Sports Retailer (ASR) tradeshow in San Diego. Yet every tradehow, some brands are able to get a substantial amount of business done in a short amount of time. If your brand is experiencing budget cuts (as most are), your ASR strategy will undoubtedly be up for discussion. At the very least, ASR should be included in your mix as one hell of a weekend for your brand reps to write-off some hotel rooms and ‘network’ on the floor over some beers with their peers.
Nike 6.0 had the best tradeshow booth hands down. Zach Boon was kind enough to invite us to design a custom pair of kicks live in the booth as a promotion for their Nike ID program. The online design process was very simple, clean and intuitive. Every single panel on the shoe was customizable – from the sole to the stitch. After you were done with the design, they printed out a plastic laminate with a photo of your design on it.
It was a nice surprise when my limited edition Hammer Times arrived in the mail a couple weeks later.
They matched the plastic laminate exactly.
